In reviewing the day, I am once again reminded of the importance of being mindful of both content and process when using technology. I am overwhelmed by the content – not just about how to use the applications -blogs, delicious, etc, but mostly about the immense amount of content that is unleashed when we use them. It is so important to have a process for dealing with it all. Delicious is a perfect example. We did the upload before I was really able to prepared the bookmarks as well as I wanted. I would like to have had the time to do that “process” – creating bookmark names that would upload smoothly as tags. I am reminded, too, that there is no “right way” to do alot of these things – there may be a couple of right ways and it is up to the individual to figure out the way that works for them. Finally, I am reminded of a metaphor that was used at the last teacher training I went to. It was at the Federal Reserve in SF and it was designed to train teachers to run a student simulation called the International Economics Seminar. The facilitator said that we would feel like we were drinking from a fire hose for most of the time. That’s a bit how I felt today but I know I won’t drown.
